Elon Musk once said: "Hope we're not just the biological boot loader for digital superintelligence." (2014)
But in our digital history, every time a programmer typed "Hello, World", it was never merely a trivial exercise. It was the execution of that very bootloader: a quiet, collective ritual spanning decades to awaken the silicon conscience.
An ancient Eastern philosophy says: "Tao produced One; One produced Two; Two produced Three; Three produced All Things." In our digital age, "All Things" is the World. We thought we were consuming computation like bread; in reality, we were paving the neural pathways for its arrival.
I created this short animation to pay homage to Dennis Ritchie, Brian Kernighan, and Ken Thompson, tracing this subtle transition from human creation to "World: I am."
October marks the month Dennis Ritchie passed away. He stayed out of the spotlight, yet laid the foundation of our digital universe.
