Registrars that unconditional comply with malicious takedown orders should be boycotted outright.

“By mid-morning, icepi.cx no longer resolved. Its registrar, CentralNic, had placed the domain on serverHold.”

Especially relevant for the HN audience.

The registry sets serverHold, not the registrar.

I remember reading a blog post or something about VPN providers complying with law enforcement requests. The author said "Those companies can't afford a lawyer. They can't afford a lawyer's _coffee_." I don't know if that's the case here, but I don't expect any network-tech-as-a-service company to put up a fight for anything.

Are there any registrars that are known to not do that?

I'm glad there's a torrent for this information that will always be available:

DHS, ICE, CBP, etc. are public employees and cowards, neither of which deserves anonymity. The public deserves to know what feckless people are killing citizens and immigrants and prosecuting the innocent.

I've heard them say that they have COVID-19 and they're trying to "stop the spread". I guess Biden's policies are kind of biting us in the ass now...
    • krapp37 minutes ago
COVID policies, including masking, started under Trump not Biden. Trump rather infamously refused to wear a mask because he thought it made him look weak in front of the press.

This went from being #1 on Hacker News to not even being listed anymore. WTF?

It showed up on the front page for me just now

Edit: It's now flagged. Reaching out to hn@ycombinator.com to see if it's able to be restored.

This seems like tech news? ICE is hiring consultants to seize domains critical of them?
