I'd advise you to keep going. Over the past few months I've iterated through a few different kernel designs, just trying out certain architectures and seeing what works, or, what would work better than the POSIX de facto standard modern OSs use. I can genuinely see a future where running your own OS becomes the norm and not an esoteric project.
