Not much science in that article.

I've seen the same article, from US sources.

It's like they had AI copy it.

[article] "Vaping nicotine, a highly addictive substance, is less harmful than cigarettes, but the long-term effects are not yet clear, according to the NHS."

"Discover Magazine - Nicotine, the wonder drug ?" https://www.discovermagazine.com/nicotine-the-wonder-drug-10...

    Not the Great Satan

Perhaps most surprising is that, in studies by Boyd and others, nicotine has not caused addiction or withdrawal when used to treat disease. These findings fly in the face of nicotine’s reputation as one of the most addictive substances known, but it’s a reputation built on myth. Tobacco may well be as addictive as heroin, as some have claimed. But as scientists know, getting mice or other animals hooked on nicotine alone is dauntingly difficult. As a 2007 paper in the journal Neuropharmacology put it: “Tobacco use has one of the highest rates of addiction of any abused drug.” Paradoxically it’s almost impossible to get laboratory animals hooked on pure nicotine, though it has a mildly pleasant effect.

The same study found that tobacco smoke itself is necessary to amp up nicotine’s addictiveness. In 2005, for instance, researchers at the University of California, Irvine, found that animals self-administer a combination of nicotine and acetaldehyde, an organic chemical found in tobacco, significantly more often than either chemical alone.

    BBC says its "highly addictive"

Discover Magazine says "it’s almost impossible to get laboratory animals hooked on pure nicotine"

People don't seem to generally be aware, that cigarettes are a highly engineered product, developed over 100's of years, and they've tweaked the formula repeatedly, to be addictive and harmful enough to keep you down and dependent. Barely alive, and broke. They think of it as "tobacco," a plant.

This is how Big Tobacco executives were able to appear before congress in the 1970's and say, legally, and confidently, that "No, we don't believe that nicotine is addictive." They had the data showing that for decades.

Who stands to lose when people vape ?

    1. Government Taxing Authorities

    2. Cancer Prevention / Lung Disease Societies

    3. Health Care Industry

    4. Big Tobacco

A formidable group indeed. Well funded, with a known history of outright lying to the public and f'ing them over, repeatedly, for all of documented history.

Keep vaping if you need to. It feeds the beast the least.

I will say this, the disposable vapes are an environmental problem. Some of them come with more computing power than the Apollo 11 had, and it just goes in the landfill or the sewer.
