I know many people who work in education, at different levels of different schools, and they have nothing but horror stories to tell. School is now just glorified babysitting and stopping kids from either overdosing, getting pregnant, or committing suicide. Teachers and faculty spend so most of their time on harm reduction that teaching is almost non-existent.

Absolutely false. Anyone who believes this should step outside and get away from doomer BS like this. I volunteered at a school and children were literally having fun with Scratch.
