OSgrid is a metaverse, much like Second Life, but federated. People run their own simulators, which represent a land area, but they share a common asset store, so you can move items from area to area. The OSGrid organization runs the asset store.

They are facing a distributed denial of service attack. Someone is uploading vast amounts of junk to the asset store, and it's passed 18TB. The attacker is using VPNs and phony accounts. The tiny dev team has tried to stop this, but can't. So they are shutting down on December 31, 2026.
