The IPCC is “corrupted” by politics, which massively - and I would argue, maliciously - waters down the reports that are used by policy makers, and hides or outright erases anything that is “too distressing” to those obsessed with the next election cycle.

I have seen preprint research that makes the IPCC “projections” look like feel-good fairy tales. The reality is 100-1,000× worse than anything the IPCC reports.
