    At this point it is just starting to keep really awkward/cringe the way OpenAI and Anthropic keep say things like this. They say it in the same way a young kid threatens others even though they cannot back up said claim.

    Just notice that it is always the ones going for IPO that talk like this. Microsoft/Apple/Google, they don't talk like this because they don't need to, they are already certain of their positions (for the most part).

    What I mean is, how many projects, services and features have been scrapped in Microsoft, Google, Apple that we never knew about. It would have been weird if Tim Cook came out and said "We had this great new feature for the iPhone, but we aren't doing it now. So yeah, yay us!"

      It's like if the Mariner from the Rime of the Ancient Mariner shot the albatross, hung it on his own neck, then asked the crew to blame him for everything. When they ignore his madness, he starts shooting arrows into the sky to see if anyone will ask him to stop endangering other people on the deck of the ship.

      If the rime stands to reason, OpenAI and Anthropic are now awaiting a ghost ship from The Pentagon to suck out the souls of their low-headcount businesses and make the whole "AGI" fiction a federal honeypot like they did with red mercury. But I don't think supernatural salvation is in the cards for Sam or Dario.
