Meanwhile, China will be driving around on domestically produced electric vehicles powered by nuclear and solar, riding on shiny new metro lines to get to work and school, and visiting relatives using the world’s largest high speed rail network (electric).

This might sound like hyperbole but an oil crisis with lines at the pump has literally already happened in living memory, and China has more nuclear plants under construction (with domestically designed/produced reactors) than the rest of the world combined.
