Knowing Ireland and its dependency on big tech this is the watered-down version.

Many issues aren't even followed up by their privacy legislator at all. US big tech companies choose Ireland for tax avoidance and permissive privacy regulators and if that were to change Ireland would use a massive amount of jobs and thus tax revenue.

It's quite big, as a GDPR fine, and by far the biggest that Google has ever had (https://legit.eu/resources/blog/5-biggest-gdpr-fines-so-far-...). But it's quite small relative to the largest fine available to the regulator; that would be 4% of Google's global turnover, or 16 billion dollars.
