Last time I checked, country xxx laws tended to have priority in country xxx as compared to those from country yyy. Treaties, I think, end up being integrated into country law in some fashion.

This highlights, to me, how dependent the US economy is on their tech industry mind-fucking pretty much every user of the products of their tech industry. If allowing users to opt out of 'the algorithm' invokes such a 'rare intervention', then holy fuck has that hit a nerve.

I hope Australia stays the course, which would set a precedent many others will inevitably follow.

Additionally, US states have essentially created the precedent with the billion dollar fines for Meta over their responsibility / culpability / negligence in damaging young minds.
