Mathematics is a fruit of labour fuelld by love by the mathematicians. It's not demand and supply. I don't think the majority of academic mathematicians do it because they cannot get better jobs elsewhere. Not everything is demand and supply. Things we humans do for love.....

On a side note I am not a fan of "poshenloh method" for solving quadratic equations because it only works in specific cases but actually taks longer to solve in most cases
