Makes very little sense to me. As much as I want a Xserve, I don't see how Apple has a competitive advantage for the target market.

Nvidia already or will definitely make a product that will compete with Apple, as they are moving towards full integration. They also owns the networking, GPU, CPU, and other parts as well. Apple's only advantage is M8 potentially being slightly faster and macOS. Neither is a moat for the intended market.

Nvidia and Apple and Server hardware. What an unlikely combo, I would never have put money on that happening. Heck, neither Apple+Nvidia nor Apple+(publically available)-server-hardware were something I would have guessed.

But I think the future is local inference and I'd love to have Apple as another contender in this space.

Nvidia is the Apple of GPUs, so it's quite an apt pair

    > "M8 processors"

    > "potential release date in 2029, but it could be canceled before then."

It seems unreasonable to care about this so soon.

I feel this in general these days. Once again I would love some sort of news outlet or aggregator that only posts about things that have already happened, as opposed to things years into the future.

Has Apple patched the 49 day integer overflow TCP timestamp clock bug yet?

If they start again, they wasted 15y of not gaining more experience in that field.

How will they grow the necessary _mature_ software? It takes decades for a filesystem to mature. Their system tools are a mixed bag: some things are outstanding, others are clown car level abominations that need interactive input.

I wonder how many fools will get burned again after last time.

YES! The NVIDIA bubble grows larger. What multi-billion dollar company isn't trading money back and forth with NVIDIA now?

Hope not sounds very circular in a AI model maker fashion, at this point in time Apple doesn’t need Nvidia for anything let the current AI gang buying Nvidia hardware and software, bubble burst and just stay back and enjoy the show.
