If you dont know what you'll use a personal computer for, don't get one.

Either you're living the life in an analog way in some exotic beach or farm, in which case, great for you, or you're doomscrolling on your smartphone and making it hard for yourself using crap interfaces on a tiny screen and having no control of your digital life, in which case, suit yourself.

Why … you could use it to

    - advance spaceflight

    - cure conjunctivitis

    - create advanced versatile clothing material

    - solve the world’s hunger crisis

Many people don't have a need for one because they use their phone, but it is surprising to hear from someone on HN.

Maybe we are all out of date.

I don't see how the availability of AI has anything to do with whether you have a use for a personal computer.

Try a raspberry pi 5 and tinker. I use it for my daily work. All dev work.

It's great for learning to keep it lean.

Why even buy a thing that you currently don’t have a use for? And what does AI have to do with it at all?
