    I built Parsefin because I use tools like Dataroma and WhaleWisdom to follow what well-known investors are doing, but I was frustrated by the limited number of pre-selected investors available and terrible websites. Going to the SEC's website directly is also inefficient since you have to search for funds one-by-one, and you don't see the time series data.

    What Parsefin does: Parsefin parses SEC 13F/G/D portfolio disclosure filings and aggregates portfolio changes for hedge funds and other investors (like Tiger Global, Coatue, Berkshire, Druckenmiller, A16z public holdings, etc.) into clean views. If you create a (free) account, you can follow a custom list of funds rather than just the default list you see when logged-out.

    What I focused on improving vs. legacy:

    * Customization: follow any fund you want rather than just a pre-set list * Estimates of fund performance * Modern, clean interface with search, keyboard navigation, etc.

    Stack is just Next.js / React + PostgreSQL hosted on Vercel + Supabase with GH Actions.

    How is performance calculated? How is Sequoia Capital doing so poorly?

      Performance is estimated as though investors held the portfolio they reported at the end of every quarter for the entire following quarter. That's going to be directionally accurate for investors that don't trade a lot - eg Berkshire, and less accurate for investors who trade a lot. Sequoia Capital's hedge fund (SCGE Management) is separate from Sequoia Capital's venture fund, I think...but yea, they don't seem to be having a good year based on the public portion of what they own, aside from SpaceX... but the gains on SpaceX alone probably means they are actually doing really well
