I once had lunch with a fellow from the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) which is part of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

In his introduction he said that IARPA studies things like "Employment Events".

Sadly studies like that don't automatically appear on their website. It seems like you have to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to get it. I've not been so motivated. Perhaps some one here might be.
