A startup founder building an MVP will hear “it depends” from every developer they talk to. An agency trying to price a client project will spend hours on a proposal that may not even be in the right ballpark.

The web development industry has a transparency problem. Pricing is opaque, inconsistent, and heavily influenced by who you ask, where they're located, and how good they are at sales — not necessarily how good they are at building software.
