Thrice laid off in a year, with a son and a newborn is enough to push a grown man over the edge. The author is taking much more stoically than I would ever be able to.

The job market is untenable. Hell, it has been untenable for a decade, but it’s crossed the line to inhumane. My coping mechanism for these kind of shocks has literally been to upend my life so I need so little money to survive, finding myself without a job is not so disastrous.

Whenever I hear someone saying the economy and the hiring market is the healthiest it’s ever been I want to slap them so hard they open the eyes to what regular white collar people have to do to maintain a semblance of dignity and stability.
