I didn't like how this story concluded, with the employee lying, wasting a week of someone's time scanning for viruses, and IT not knowing what happened so they can't protect against it happening again.

To me, I think the truth sounds much better than the lie. An employee trying to learn new things and making a mistake in the process... that happens. An employee picking up viruses in China that could be doing god knows what... sounds horrific.
