A long time ago a very wise man told me that they way economy works is like a magnifying glass. Things are detected, the glass moves, and what's underneath is blessed with the political/economic grease to get the thing that is wanted going.
The question was always who moves the glass. It sounds like last calls for ladders being rolled up on the nouveau-riche.
