Western carmakers, a minority ?
Or Western voters-drivers, by far, a vast majority ?
BYD's offer a warrantee almost twice that of the Rivian R2 I ordered, a bit cheaper pricetag too.
Seems there should be a way to disable that internet function which transits all data back to Chinese servers (or local Gov't require that all data be run through local servers and stop there).
Or, any Western companies that allow BYD to market inside their countries should require a huge "bonding" bought through a Western company to guarantee purchasers against losses in case BYD folds for any reason in that country. Also should require substantial warrantee / service centers inside that country.
It's well known that car dealers across the USA earn most of their $ by financing and by service, not by cash paying customers who buy cars and never return to the dealer for service.
I fully expect that "short" 50K mileage warrantee on my Rivian is their strategy, so that once it expires, I am on the hook for some very expensive service trips .. that is how they will make up for the lower sales price out the door.
