    Hearing a world leader talk about open source is huge. I think it highlights pretty starkly the difference in approach between the U.S. and China and will likely in time be seen as a pretty historic statement.

      Yeah. But I think in the developing world it is a common viewpoint: That tech monopolies and ip is continuation of western colonialism and exploitation.

      Xi is not speaking for deaf ears here.

        Sure, but we have the world we live in and Xi is just playing a role. The belt and road have been plenty colonialist, the african expeditions are equally exploitative.

        The issue globally is consolidation of wealth and resources, we've got housing and wage crises from miami to switzerland.

          Absolutely, you can say that. But in terms of tech, high quality open source ai is a real equalizer - and I applaud that.
