    Basically the article is arguing that distillation is a moat leak from USA to China.

    But what surprises me is that the frontier labs can’t detect the Chinese making the distillation attempts?

      They can, that's how they know. The concern is that if they block, some legit users will get blocked as well, due to false positives. Remember, the distillation may not be happening from Chinese IP addresses.
