I'm not totally against screen time for kids, but for my kids, we watch shows that have even the bare minimum of content geared to teach something (everything from Ms. Rachel and Blippi to explicit "How honey is made" videos). Personally, even when I turn off my brain and doomscroll, the algorithm is still feeding me decent quality content (woodworking demos, latest tech news, etc.)
Compare that to what the 10-14 years olds were getting: streamers rage-reacting to people getting violently injured (not pie-in-the-face hurt), racist videos, toilet humor, you get the point.
This observation doesn't even include the devastation of how social media enables children to interact with peers and the bullying and harassment that occurs.
So yeah, I'm all for banning it for young teens.
