I refuse to read the story since I assume this would mean I'd need to see advertisements. Of course, all advertising should be avoided as aggressively as possible. Except for old fashioned sort of stuff (a phone number and business name for a local plumber in a local newspaper) nearly all advertisements should be dealt with in an adversarial manner. If a company is trying to tell you something is good, then you should just assume the opposite. It's probably terrible in some way. You could be wrong, of course, but this is a much safer starting position. And more crucially, the company that has attempted to persuade must pay some sort of penalty for their attempt do so. They didn't earn some right to try to persuade you; they are not a trusted friend or lover. They just want something from you. So your default position should be "these claims are false and against my interest, and to the extent possible I will forget this company exists. Failing that, I will never patronize their services."
