AI credentials in WordPress, a PHP script. Whatever can go wrong. And who wants that anyway?

What do mean? This is a great idea. So now instead of having plugins with security vulnerabilities we also have all kinds of escape scenarios within the main software package. Almost nothing can go wrong. Nothing at all. We need to be forward looking, AI for the win!

I've been a WordPress user for years. I don't want integrated AI. Sure hope I'll be able to ignore it.

AI-Integrated WordPress….still not sure if this is good or bad. It will definitely be a disaster for the revenue of many smb web agencies.

I don't have numbers to cite as a source, but from my experience, this whole field has already experienced a lot of destruction. Maybe not so much for the top agencies on the national and local levels, but certainly for the smaller players. I have seen jobs boards for certain ecosystems slowly go from loads of jobs being posted to loads of people looking for work. My guess is that it's a combination of a mature market (once the railroads are built, you don't need nearly as many people building rail,) a weird economy that might be in a recession if not for mass AI build out, AI taking on a lot of the work, and serious disruption in things like SEO, campaign / ads management, copywriting, design, etc.

On the AI front, I guess integration makes things easier for the end-user. But between the API you always had in previous versions and direct file access, a "developer" or a savvy end-user wouldn't need the added AI integration. AI has resulted in me barely ever bothering to log into my self hosted tools these days.
