I like NYT's curation/coverage. However, I also noticed that scanning the homepage was giving me anxiety. The headlines are designed to manipulate emotions by creating urgency and drama.

So I made Blander, a Chrome extension that rewrites NYT headlines automatically using Claude to make them as bland as possible. "I Went to China to See Their Progress in AI. We Can't Beat Them." becomes "Person Visits China, Sees AI Work."

Bring your own Anthropic API key, everything stored locally, no tracking, no analytics. Results are cached and there's a 50-call daily cap so you don't accidentally spend your rent money making the news duller.
