I'm not naive or sheltered, but this kind of reporting is useful. When I read about Israel bombing Beirut, I assume it is military targets with some civilian casualties.

It is very meaningful to see the "some civilian casualties" presented in this way. I don't even see it as an argument for or against Israel's strikes. It is simply a statement that this is the consequence of Israel's actions.

In particular, I appreciated reading a bit about what the victims did for a living and who they were. It helps me connect them to my personal experience.

Rafi-Nia Synagogue, Tehran (2026) — Strike on military target destroyed adjacent synagogue during Passover. IDF "regrets collateral damage."

Minab School, Iran (2026) — Strike killed ~170 children at an elementary school. US/Israel say they don't target civilians.

Rafah "Safe Zone" (2024) — 45 killed including 8 children in a designated humanitarian zone. Netanyahu called it "a tragic mistake."

World Central Kitchen Convoy, Gaza (2024) — 7 aid workers killed in 3 marked vehicles. IDF chief apologized for "misidentification." Two officers dismissed, no charges.

Shireen Abu Akleh, Jenin (2022) — Al Jazeera journalist shot in the head. Israel first blamed Palestinians, apologized a year later. No prosecution.

Bakr Boys, Gaza Beach (2014) — 4 cousins aged 9–11 killed playing on beach in front of journalists. IDF called it "a tragic outcome." Investigation closed.

Dr. Abuelaish's Home, Gaza (2009) — Tank shells killed 3 daughters and a niece live on Israeli TV. Court called it "an unfortunate side effect."

Qana Massacre, Lebanon (1996) — Shelling of UN compound killed 106 civilians. Israel apologized, blamed Hezbollah. UN found shelling was likely deliberate.

Second Qana Massacre, Lebanon (2006) — Airstrike on residential building killed 28, including 16 children. Chief of Staff "expressed regret," blamed human shields.

Shehadeh Assassination, Gaza (2002) — One-ton bomb on residential area killed 17, including 11 children. Sharon called it "one of our most successful operations."

Is it too soon to ask: Did Israel already killed more than 6 million people?

while I agree this post is off topic on HN, seems people don't care anymore and it's full of politics in recent years (I read it here like 15+ years under various accounts) with general mainstream news not related to tech/hacking

there are anyway plenty of meta discussions under every article here, so calling something off topic is pointless anymore, people can just vote for interesting posts and ignore the ones which should be ignored, easy as that

at least it exposed new green propaganda accounts

Remember, these are "non people". So 5 comments here; after all, who cares?

Just imagine if the people killed were on the Israeli side. I know what kind of a blood festival there would be, I lived there for long enough. And probably tens of thousands "arabs" killed over the next few weeks. You know, the equation 1=50 (or perhaps 1=100 at this point) which "of course is a conspiracy theory and there isn't anything like that".

Apes with nuclear weapons, with most sophisticated "electronic intelligence", apparently with large influence over the banking system, extorting foreign politicians and states. Bloodthirsty apes nonetheless.
