No injuries. Returned to airport. Uncontained failure of the low pressure turbine (LPT) around #3 or #4.

Flight: Delta Flight 104 São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) to Atlanta (ATL)

    When: 2026-03-30 Sunday 11:49 pm local (2026-03-31 02:49 UTC)

    Model: Airbus A330-323

    Registration: N813NW

    Serial: 0799

    Mode S: 52612702 / AB15C2

Engine: Left (number 1) Pratt & Whitney PW4168A

There's a split in the engine case. Hazarding premature speculation, with the age of the engine and its failure mode, this leads me in the direction of ADs around LPT stator or blade assembly fatigue allowing component lean back, leading to catastrophic interference.
