Please don’t lie to us. Not one single customer said anything about wanting more soybean oil in their chocolate. Soulless corporate vampires wanted to save two cents in ingredient costs.

As a kid, I loved these Reese's cups and into the 1990's I think I enjoyed them. But they have been off many years in terms of a poor quality waxy flavored chocolate. The Trader Joes ones (and I am sure other products) blow them away. Lucky for me, I have moved on to healthier items.

This was bad enough press for them that some of the more under-rock coworkers knew about the controversy but didn't know it was only a small subset. So people not very plugged in thought Hershey was worse than it was.
