    Palantir is a great lesson in how a commodified, boring technology is totally dominating by effectively making the decades of raw data collection sortable and their controversies (and notoriety) are nearly exclusively because of political behaviors.

    I recall using Palantir back in 2010 and thinking “I thought this was supposed to do more actual stuff, it’s a really advanced search and discovery tool for combing through thousands of unstructured files”

    That fact that a basic indexing, retrieval and graph creation tool is one of the most controversial companies on the planet tells you what you need to know about technology media and markets.

    Nobody is mad at i2 Analyst Notebook (1) but it’s literally the same thing and did the majority of the work in the IC and DoD prior to Palantir.
