I’m a 16-year-old student from Kenya. I spent the last few months building Playra on a 2017 Dell Latitude 7280 because I wanted to see if I could build a high-performance video platform using a modern edge stack (Next.js, Supabase, Turso). Most platforms today feel like 'AI slop' or bloated legacy tech. I built Playra to be fast, minimal, and focused on community interactions like polymorphic polls and quizzes. The Tech: > - Next.js for the frontend/backend. Turso (libSQL) for low-latency data at the edge. Supabase for auth and real-time. Framer Motion for the UI interactions. I'm currently running this on a very limited budget and hardware. I'd love any feedback on the architecture or the UI. My goal is to eventually upgrade my laptop so I can add even more features.
