    Do many people hold the view that Chinese cars are cheaper because of subsidies?

    Seems pretty obvious that the world's largest market, with a huge manufacturing base, lower wages, industrial policy, and weak yuan all combine to make cheap cars.

    As a US citizen, I'm happy that China is transforming the global auto market. I just wonder how long it will take to rip the tariff band-aid off.
