    This is why the cloud wins. It gets updated and you can't do anything about it but the trade off is you never get harassed about how you need to update. 1% of the agony of software updates is the updating, 99% of it is the update trying to sell you on updating or using the update as a pretense to sell you something else.

      I avoid that tradeoff by using Linux. It updates when I tell it to and inbetween it's nice and quiet. At time when I have to use Windows for a bit it is genuinely a shocking contrast with how little respect both the OS and applications have for the user's attention. Everything adds itself to autostart without asking, everything spams update popups.
