Most shop software I looked at costs $100–$300/month and is pretty bloated. Smaller garages often just end up using spreadsheets, WhatsApp, and paper job cards.
I started building Motara to solve that problem with something simpler and much cheaper (currently about $20/month).
Core things it does: • job cards and repair tracking • parts and inventory tracking • invoice generation • AI-powered parts lookup • a growing library of free tools for mechanics (invoice generator, vehicle tools, etc.)
I’m also experimenting with things like VIN-based vehicle assistants and diagnostic helpers.
It’s still early and I’m adding features based on feedback from shop owners.
