“Why do I need to know math when calculators exist?”.

Because calculators do arithmetic, not maths. The same fallacies apply to AI. Language is subtly used for communication between humans.

From a utilitarian viewpoint, I find that the Kurds, Croatians, Finns, Hungarians, Hebrew speakers, Tamilians, Malayalis, Hindi speakers come across appreciate it when I make an effort to use the little Kurmanji, Suomi, Magyar and Ivrit, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi that I know.

More importantly languages are interesting !

I am back to working on my Finnish now and the grammar and sentences are fascinating !
