Not comparable, in general, to other jobs. Sure, there ARE companies or cultures where people are worked to a pulp (several Asian companies, pointing at you), but SF startup culture doesn't portend what other jobs or industries should expect.
The app he's making[1] is an AI-driven notebook for fiction writers. Not changing the world. I don't understand the dedication.
