There’s an ever-growing movement of physical media collectors online. They’re interesting to watch because they seem to buy pretty much anything. $80 for a 4K release of super-flop Tank Girl? Sure.

It seems more of an obsession than simply buying the films you like. And they’re pretty defensive about it. One collector spent decades building a massive collection, and almost as long railing against streaming and claiming his physical collection would outlast Netflix… that was until his home burned down in the California wildfires last year.

I’m not particularly interested in building physical collections, but I have a great appreciation for physical media that’s aesthetically pleasing like the old big box PC games from the ’80s and ’90s.

And I still prefer my CDs and albums over streaming music, especially Amazon's crappy Prime music that decides to play Barbara Streisand while I'm trying to listen to a mix of John Mayer. I assume this is to get me to upgrade to the expensive unlimited subscription. Why bother when I already own most of what I truly like.
