    If they can't tell the work's being done well without seeing them, they can't tell whether the work's being done well... Software (or hardware) that's fit for purpose can be produced independently of the sweat and panic of the development team. Often, sweat and panic delivers work that has more (hidden) problems that something developed on a more relaxed schedule.

    I would hope that companies more concerned about the health and well-being of their staff become successful. And that includes staff who isn't solo and young.

    Some of my guys worked too hard from home. It was safer to restrict them to just working at work. But about 5-10 percent would be the really smart people who for whatever reason would use their superpowers to not work hard. Drove me crazy. As supervisor, the work was challenging to monitor, and there were some that helped to ruin it for the many. If they were all at work, it was hay easier to detect those not pulling their expected weight.
