These people are basically the energy policy version of flat earthers.

It's more cost effective to straight up demolish coal plants (or even better, repurpose[1]) and replace the energy production with solar and battery.

I thought Trump and Hegseth were laser focused on warfighting and morale of the troops, and good grooming.

This is just another attempt at social engineering. The market has gone beyond coal, and this action proves that conservatives thundering about how women or African Americans shouldn't be allowed in because that would distract from unit cohesion or some other military concern was just a load of lies. They're more than willing to add unconnected social things like coal power if it makes them money or fits their prejudices.

On the other hand, this just might be Trump doing more corruption, maybe paying off Manchin for being an anchor for 4 years.
