Manufactures own silicon (security built into hardware) Controls full OS stack (iOS, macOS, iPadOS) Owns the endpoints (every device where humans interact with AI) Operates global retail (customer relationship infrastructure) Has no model to protect (no conflict of interest)
Model providers ship APIs and hope someone figures out responsible presentation. Apple controls the full stack and can implement trust verification at every layer. More critical: as AI becomes agentic, verification can't wait for human review. Must happen at the edge, in real time, on device. Only one company manufactures processors AND controls the OS AND owns the hardware. Fundamental problem: model provider revenue depends on adoption. Incentive to minimize concerns. Apple has no model to protect. Can be the referee. Tim Cook has watched this pattern twice before. He sees what's coming. The structure, culture, and character to build this right. Systems thinking, not product thinking.
