I seem to recall that the residents of Martha's Vineyard have killed multiple attempts at offshore wind, also claiming it to be a threat.

How and why are not things that this administration answers. They operate under the idea that claims do not need to be supported by evidence or reasoning if you just repeat them often enough.

Given how many undersea internet cables get cut it's probably smart to not rely on them for critical infrastructure but I don't see how it's actively harmful.
