    The subreddit went from booming to ghost town and was kept that way for over five years.

    The Reddit flair system was used in conjunction with AutoMod to silence much of the community. It was an insidiously ingenious form of shadow banning.

    Over time the community ground to a complete halt. Everyone in the city talked about this.

      Similar to LocalLlama, eventually the only moderator quit and set auto moderator to delete any new posts/comments. Eventually reddit stepped in and made someone who moderates basically all the AI/LLM subreddits the top moderator of the subreddit.

      Currently, r/MistralAI, r/LocalLLaMA, r/ChatGPT, r/OpenAI and r/grok are all run by the same person, who tries to migrate their communities to Discord and X instead.
