No, we don't. The country got along fine with half the current population, and half of that, and half of that. There's no reason to think there's anything magical about the current population value. Progressives need to offer solutions to actual current problems, not imaginary future ones.

The right likes talking about it because it's tinged with racism. It's not just that the birth rate is falling, but that white people in particular might be out-reproduced. That's what underlies the hysterical level of their claims of collapse.

And that works for them, at the ballot box. But progressives won't triumph by letting the right set the agenda. We need to set our own agenda: the climate, the economy, a sane national conversation, etc.

It is less about sheer number of people and more about the ratio between those that can work (young) and those that cannot (old).

Majority of supposed conservative solutions in the article consist of making sure women are helpless.

Abortion bans that literally kill women and lead to unwanted babies are one supposed sulution. Male as a head of household traditional familly another.

    Oh, from heretage foundation .

You would think family friendly leftist policy was a no brainer:

    1) free healthcare

    2) cheaper housing

    3) parental leave rights
