    It’s interesting to me that Apple and Google have not taken action on X. They have rules for the App Store. If anyone else violated them in the same way, they would have been banned with no recourse. But because X is tied to the US government, I assume Apple and Google fear getting into trouble for antitrust or having M&A blocked or some other issue. Otherwise why wouldn’t they act?

    Also can anyone explain why X is calling itself a “news app” and is categorized as “news” instead of social media? This false classification in the app stores is leading it to be labeled as the top news app and getting more visibility than it deserves, and it feels like a deceptive categorization.

      If I remember correctly the publisher can choose the category of the app it publishes on the storefront.

      Elon Musk thinks X is the number one source for news, so that explains that.

      You already named the most likely reason why no one dares to recategorize it.
