It's pretty insightful. I don't know anything about Fishkin; his proposed solution seems like it should work, but as the piece points out, it runs up hard against all the other things that can matter too. It's a bit like a fairy tale that we really, really want to be both true and instructive.
A very true statement:

They're the things with which the solution collides. They can't be ignored, and are often ultimately dispositive.
