I’m sure this is just my liberal bias showing, but is it bad that it doesn’t seem like they’re aligned on their day two plans?

It's still very early innings and some way that this is a sensible U.S. move could emerge in the fullness of time. But whether you call it "bad" or not might depend on whether you would find it funny and desirable to see the American empire making Benny Hill style blunders.

Delcy is probably in a meeting right now asking that Chinese delegation from a few days ago how many weapon systems she can buy and how soon they can be delivered.

The whole thing is especially funny after the rah rah Merica crowd was crowing and beating their chests in the immediate aftermath of the operation. I keep thinking there's got to be some other shoe to drop because even Marco Rubio couldn't be so stupid as to just kidnap Maduro and call it a day, could he?

Rubio's goal is apparently (?) to cut off oil to Cuba by blockading Venezuela. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY5f_VQhy84

Rubio has personal beef with Cuba.

As dysfunctional as the U.S. state has become, I doubt that they're allowing Rubio to move big chess pieces around to settle his personal scores.

Who's going to not allow him? They are the ones running the place.

I thought it was widely believed that Rubio was running US foreign policy in zones that aren't Trump's personal interests, like Ukraine. I feel like Rubio and Gabbard could indeed have convinced Trump and Hegseth to do this, and not have much in the way of a follow-up plan. It worked for Bush in Iraq and Afghanistan!
