I suspect you need a different social circle, because you said something I find weird: “I have visited the other two cities and they seem much the same”
In a big city there are so many sub-cultures, all with different values and norms. Because you said the three places seem the same, I’m guessing you were with the same people or doing similar activities in each place?
I mainly just went around to bars and spoke to people and a lot of the conversations seemed to focus around career. Though maybe you are right that I just need to explore around more. I've also never been great at making friends which probably does not help.
