The future “super”-ness of anything, is always framed in relation to the pedestrian un-“super”-ness of the current state of that thing.

The same question of “why super intelligence” could’ve been asked by our simian ancestors. We don’t ask that about ourselves because we don’t think we’re collectively particularly super (with notable individual exceptions).
