Taking a diehard revolutionary who wants to leverage the memorial of the october revolution to carry the project forward instead of into regressive trends, and changing it into an embittered baltic state soviet who decides to defect with his entire submarine and crew unknowing except a cohort of specially picked boat officers. Thats like re-writing "the island of dr moreau" into "Dr Dolittle".

If Tom Clancy wasn't on the payroll of a US state agency, he should have been.

I loved the film. Sam Neil writes hilariously about the filming. But if you loved the film and "bought the book" you'd be in for a serious disappointment if you didn't buy Tom Clancy.

That piqued my interest, so I searched for it but Google AI told me to give up. :-/

Sam Neill has not written about the filming of The Hunt for Red October; he was not in the cast of that film, which starred actors like Alec Baldwin, Sean Connery, and Scott Glenn. He is, however, known for his role in Jurassic Park, and there are interviews where he discusses that experience and his work with Steven Spielberg.
